There is a place that is not work and not home. Sociologists call it the “third place.” We call it the apres. It’s the porch after the final whistle, the 6:00 AM clearing in the canopy where the pour-over steams, the tailgate that bleeds into a quiet back-porch wind-down.
June is Men’s Mental Health Month, and we’d rather build the third place than market around it. This is the founding idea behind Apres Leisure, and it’s the reason we’re opening the Vanguard.
// The Third Place Is a Mental Health Tool
The hardest terrain most people cross is the transition between modes: work to play, noise to quiet, on to off. The third place is where that crossing happens, and when it disappears, the reset disappears with it.
Our gear is engineered for that exact moment you step out of the grind and into something that actually restores you. That’s also why 1% of profits go directly to mental-health and ecological-infrastructure work. Not a rounding error hidden in the footnotes: a real, ongoing 1% pledge tied specifically to the spaces that let people exhale.
// The Vanguard Recruitment Protocol: Operators, Not Affiliates
We’re not recruiting “influencers.” We’re commissioning operators: people who already live in the terrain and already hold a third place open for the communities around them. We are talking about specialists spreading the dream—their true passions outside of the office or home grid.
We are not looking for passive brand hangers-on or generic corporate affiliates. We are commissioning active Vanguard Operators—culture creators, local explorers, and network nodes who actively defend and broadcast the spaces and activities there that keep us human, fulfilled, re-envigorated and all the things really.
If your frequency matches ours and you have the visibility to build out our regional infrastructure, it’s time to step past the perimeter.

Cheers to you, Legends and Vanguard Operators, who strap themselves to our mission!
